The news had been awash with all these tales about eclipses and especially the hybrid eclipse that was to happen soon. I didn't think much of it until it was mentioned that the scientists had predicted that among the best places to view the expected eclipse would be a place known as Pakwach in northern Uganda. Being a Ugandan who has only had a chance to travel to northern Uganda just once before, I jumped at the opportunity. Suddenly, I felt that I couldn't miss this for the world.
Sunday morning, my traveling partner and I set out on the 372Km journey from Kampala to Pakwach that was expected to take us 4hrs 53mins on a bus. Close to 7hrs later, we were in this blazing hot environment. The excitement to witness this spectacular occurrence however, made up for the uncomfortable weather. Fully armed with our viewing gadgets, we stormed the local primary school where the event was to be. Our excitement was heightened by the arrival of the president who checked in afew minutes after our own arrival. The number of people that had turned up was unbelievable and most of them having travelled from far and wide. Part of me kept thinking, what if these scientists' predictions were wrong? That day, the sun must have wondered at the sort of care we accorded it as every other minute we were anxious to know what Mr. or is she a Miss Sun was up to as we took turns in pointing our gadgets in the direction of the big ball an observing. The day went by really fast with the usual speeches and entertainment that happens when someone as important as the president decides to share the same space as you.
Time check 5:22pm and allover a sudden every thing changed. The attention was no longer on the president presence or absence when in a flash, the humid weather was exchanged for the coolest weather ; the moon over ran the sun and we got total darkness which lasted for atleast 20 seconds so that some of us could put our cameras to good use.
Hurray! the over hyped about eclipse had finally occurred and guess what, I was a witness!!!
At that moment, the crowd went wild: we screamed, we hugged, we danced, we worshiped God. I knew I couldnot put that experience into words, it was simply awesomely amazing.
Till the year 2114, I and a few people will ever know this experience!

Thank you........Please
"Simple does it" is what I like to remind myself of everytime I am becoming uptight which is a lot of times I must say. There is this sweetness that comes with simplicity and that will have you get away with almost anything.
I knew I had to attend this wedding on Saturday at 2PM. Saturday being the day I stay longer in bed, I woke up an hour earlier, just to get myself ready and be in time for the wedding. I shall not bore you with all the unnecessary details however, by the time I was ready to leave the house it was 2PM! never mind that that was the time the vows were being taken. When I got to the car, I had a flat tyre but chose to take all this in good stride and find an alternative way to get to church. This ended up being a ride on one of the motorbikes that courier people in a hurry from place to place and thanks to my speeding rider, I got there within 10mins!
Having had such an evenful marathon to the wedding service, I didnot have time to stop and pick a gift for the new couple. I decided to do that after the service and stopping at a nearby store, I quickly identified this fine set of glasses complete with a jug that I thought the newly marrieds would appreciate. I majestically marched to the to check out at the counter and requested that the gift be wrapped for me. I was impressed that this particular store does that free of charge (but also sells to you the wrapping paper expensively and in excess). This young man was assigned to wrap the gift for me and boy did he take his time! I however noticed that he was very polite and even offered me a seat while I waited for him to carefully do the wrapping in my glittering paper that I had bought in excess. Under normal circumstances I should have been very jittery as I kept watching the minutes tick away and he is still neatly folding one corner or the next. To my surprise, I took it easy and infact was shocked when I found myself say a genuine thank you to him when he finally handed the orange stripped gift to me. I even went ahead to give him a tip after this long ordeal. That is how far politeness will take one!

To Do List
There is this strange habit that I got to learn as a result of my work. It is the damn ritual of having a "to do list." I don't know about you but I religiously come up with a list of what is likely to occupy my day either first thing in the morning or the last thing before I leave my desk. It is even more annoying if I have to come up with this list as I wait in the traffic on my way home! For one, that list kind of keeps me organized or atleast i will get to know what I should have done for the day that ends up not being done.
Recently, I went on vacation and caught myself waking up in the morning and so longing for a "to do list". the thing is that, I was greatful for the break but I realised allover a sudden that I had 101 things to do and had no idea where to start! I mean; I wanted to catch up with friends, I wanted to travel, I wanted to rest (Sleep),I wanted to watch television, I wanted to update my blog, I wanted to read blogs, I wanted to go shopping and I have five days to do all this! You guessed right, I found what my hands found to do haphazardly and learnt a lesson, whenever I next get my vacation, I will fill in the "to do list" as I apply for the time off work!

Life goes on part II
Life surely did go on after my last post. It has now been five solid months since then.
Frankly, I wouldn't know whether to apologize for this because, I am not sure anyone is reading this post ( save for yours truly as I tend to return to my posts and read them). Yes,before I lose my trail of thought, I wanted to let everyone know that I am super excited. I know it might not seem that big to you but for me to know that I finish my course soon is exciting! I now have two modules left and I will be a management specialist. Here is to hoping that my tutors don't read this blog because I am sure they wouldn't agree. Ok, what I mean is, I wouldn't really be a specialist rather I would have started my journey to being one. isn't a specialist one that is experienced and good at a particular field? Think so. Well, that is what I intend to become in the field of management.
Speaking of which, I changed departments ( at work) which means I got a new manager whom we normally call supervisor. That came with a change in my role at work as well. Boy, has it been a roller coaster the past five months. Monday and Friday were so close, the days in between seemed to vanish for some strange reason. Before I knew it, we are in June and I am busy thinking, did we really go through each month? Yes we did, because at least I remember each of my friend's birthdays that fall within the respective months. You know better than forgetting a friend's birthday. For many of my friends this is tantamount to de-friending them. Personally, I don't care if you did not remember my birthday, it simply means I have an opportunity to stay the same age for another year.(at least in your eyes) I don't know whether all this is to do with the fact that my birthday falls in January, it seems to come so often (read grow much faster). Unfortunately, I do not subscribe to the notion "age is just a number" because it is more than just a number. However, which ever way you look at it, you can use it to your advantage. Like I know the older I get, the wiser I become. Who wants to be daft?
Life does go on anyway, whether you take note or not, whether you get older or choose to just keep changing the numbers. While all this happens, I am determined to make the best of it- Life!
