My favorite part while attending funeral services ( that is not to say that I like funerals) is when they get to do the eulogies. I like to listen to stories of how special the deceased was; how he treated those around him especially close family, friends and colleagues. One thing though about this is that the person is not there to hear all these wonderful things being spoken about them. At times, they may not have even known , during their time on Earth that they were all that to all those people.
Today, I want to brag about a very special friend while he is able to read this. I shall use a pseudo name for him. Hezekiah.
I met Hezekiah many months back and right from the start, it felt like he knew me from somewhere. Over the months our friendship has progressed into a very strong bond and now, thanks to him, I know that pure selfless love exists. You can meet someone who not only makes a lasting impression on you but makes you a better person. Have you ever had a brother, friend,soulmate and cheerleader wrapped in one? That is Hezekiah. Let me tell you more about what I admire in Hezekiah;
Love for God Hezekiah is devoted to God and this is very important to him. There is nothing as attractive as a man who is in love with God.I know that he will treat me preciously because he honors God. No one can understand that unless they revere God.
Family is important I am forever challenged by the way he keeps in touch with family. He will call, send an email and always seems to be updated on each of his family members everyday.This takes extra effort in the times we live where everyone has no time anymore.
Loyal friend
It is one thing to have friends and yet another thing to keep loyal friends. You see, one can only have loyal friends if they are loyal themselves. Hezekiah keeps a small circle of close friends but for all of them, he has known for years. They are practically like family. Keeping friends for whom one shares similar values is an ingredient for living a fulfilled life.
Expressive
Hezekiah is a good communicator and will express himself. It does not matter whether this is done verbally or written. You can always know what he feels about a situation. It makes him very easy to get along with.
Loving
Everyone needs to be loved by someone. His love is tangible and I feel it when he talks to me, I feel it even in silence. It provides a buffer for me that no amount of stress can ever get to my core, since I have known him. Love is a powerful tool.
Hardworking
Hezekiah is hardworking. He works hard and doesnot tire from reaching out for more. He will always come up with creative ways to do better whether at home or work.That gives a sense of security.
You can tell that there is alot more from where that came from. I am so blessed to have him in my life and I hope that I return the favour. Life is alot worth living when God places special people in your life.
