Its amazing how self esteem is such a problem for many people whatever their social status in life. I used to think it was something only teenagers struggled with.
I must confess I had my fair share of feeling inadequate as well. As a teenager and growing up I always struggled with my appearance. Was I of the right complexion, Was I tall enough, slender enough(never mind that I never weighed over 50kg incidentally I still weigh the same). I do have a habit of identifying a problem and trying to come up with a solution as well. Most times this will all happen in my mind and even if you hanged around me I would never let you into my small world.
Well, thanks to the Chemistry lesson, This was my solution to feeling bad about myself. During one of the chemistry lessons, we learnt that elements can exist in different states. Take for example Iron(whose symbol is Fe). We can have Fe II (Iron two) this is green in color. Iron could also exist as FeIII(Iron three) which is dirty brown in color. Rust is Iron three.
I know the chemistry teacher had their ideas but this lesson taught me one profound lesson for life, I just have to identify which "state" i am most stabble in. Is it Iron two or three. That doesn't change who I am, It just presents a better form of me.
