WHY I AM OFF SOCIAL MEDIA

Wait! This blog isnot part of the social media platforms. Is it? Let us just agree that for the purposes of this post, it is as good as my private journal.

Well, now with that out of the way, i may as well declare how much I have grown to hate social media. FB topping the list of  the platforms i dislike the most. I don't know when i last logged onto the platform.

 It never used to be like this before. Infact i loved facebook for connecting me to the lives of my former schoolmates. It was always nice to go on there and have a sneak peak if not the whole life story of that girl from your former school to whom you hardly said Hi for the whole six years you shared the same space.  It was nice to go and like all these posts of the person you admired from a distance even if that is the only way you will ever get to connect. It was nice to listen to all the stories of your friends and old schoolmates' toddlers. As each mum described their toddler as being the most brilliant among his peers. It was always nice to wish a happy birthday to your friend's friend's grandma. I didn't do alot of colleagues because i figured I was always with them on this 8 to 8 job. Except the colleagues that are from different time zones. 

I dont know whether it comes with age, but of late i just hate this "fake"book business altogether. Why is it that it is a platform where people show only their exciting part of life. The luxurious trips, the parties, the birthdays, the recognitions, the hangouts. The smiling faces with too much makeup. The worst are those that in real life i know not to be friends but go to facebook and proclaim undying love for each other. Then there are these married guys who are  hitting on you and on facebook they are the perfect husbands. Gosh! Sometimes i feel like i should just go to their timeline and post "LIAR"!

I know, that is why for my sanity i have decided that except i am ready to perform on this worldwide theater; i am quitting. How can adults all agree to make such fools of themselves. I am sorry for the young people who take everything they read on there as genuine. 

I hope that some time in future, people will agree to have one life and not one facebook life and another non facebook life.

 Till then, i will in the meantime  enjoy my blogging.
